Photo story: Weekend way of life #1

25 May 2015

Dear Friend,

It's bank holiday weekend and it has been jam packed with fun for us; lunch at our favourite fish restaurant in Katwijk, (Fish restaurant Schuitemaker) a spot of shopping, a day out at a fun park, gourmet in the garden, a beach walk and a birthday party. Plus the added excitement of Boro in the playoffs final at Wembley (but lets not dwell on that). Another entertaining weekend.

Hubby took us for a family lunch to the fish restaurant in Katwijk.

The little man had Kibling (fish pieces in a light batter) and found one shaped like a dinosaur. The big man ate vis patat (fish chips) his favourite. Hubby and I had the lobster soup and some prawn goujons. The soup is amazing with large pieces of seafood in including crab, salmon and prawn.

The little man has a new theme at school, the circus, so we couldn't believe our luck when we found a clown in the highstreet.
The little man was unbelievably excited to meet his first clown.
His balloon dog, scamp, took pride of place at home.
In Holland you regularly come across these old fairground organs in town centres with men shaking brass collection pots (I never know if it's for charity).
When the boys were younger they loved dancing to them.
Sleepover night. The boys love sleeping in the same room on a weekend.
On our family day we went to Plaswijckpark in Rotterdam.

Excited boys! The big man had been here before for a birthday party and raved about it, but we hadn't. He wanted to head straight for the go-karts.
There is a whole section of town designed for the kids to explore, including a petrol station.
The boys tried their hand at some old farming games.
The big man is getting good at this climbing business now. the little man loves the trampoline. There is also an animal section (at the moment it is under development) he loved the rabbits and the otters.
The weather was amazing so the boys had great fun at the water play section.
The big man is a real water lover and this was by far the best part of the day for him.
Well boys will be boys!
Happy, tired boys. They slept very well that night!

We finished the day off in style with a gourmet in the garden. (Love the kids Wallace and Gromit faces!)
Our dog is a massive part of our family, we all adore her!
Nova doing her doggy acrobatics.
The little man and Nova love the beach.
The boys wave dodging.

It is two months now since I lost my nana. I really miss giving her a call on sunday evening to tell her all about our weekend adventures. She loved hearing what we had been up to and always said; Eeeee there's always something going on where you live, I'd love to live there. One of my biggest regrets is that she didn't get to visit (she wasn't fit enough). I catch myself thinking, I'll have to ring nana and tell her about... then stop and realise that I can't. Writing it down is helping to take away a bit of that pain as I feel like I am still sharing my stories with her. I hope you enjoy reading about our adventures and I know nana is watching us and smiling too.
