Yearly Roundup

31 December 2015

Dear friend,

Here we are at the end of another amazing year. I honestly can say that I have never been so tired as I am now. I was so ready for this break. Being a mum is certainly one of the hardest jobs in the world but also one of the most rewarding. I know I don't always get things right but when I look back on our year I know that I'm not doing too bad.

Our year at a glance

Some of my favourite moments this year:
  • Seeing my big lad growing in confidence
  • Watching my boys relationship grown stronger every day
  • Family trips to Whitby
  • Our fantastic holiday in Turkey
  • Having fun outdoors: trips to the park, woods, beach...
  • A day out with good friends in Amsterdam
  • How gorgeous the boys looked at my brother-in-law's wedding
  • Special meals out with my boys
  • The little man enjoying his football so much

Our year in photos

January: opposites.
We love spending time together as a family but sometimes get distracted by technology. Messing about outdoors helps us all switch off and relax.
February: Eggs-Tastic
I love this photo. It was taken on one of our last day trips to Rotterdam zoo. I love how the boys are just being themselves and messing around.

March: Reflecting
We were on the ferry coming back from the UK and nana's funeral. I managed to capture this moment of reflection from the big lad as well as his reflection in the window. One of my favourite shots ever.

April: a glimpse into the future
Sharing an ice cream at the cafe next to the playground. I couldn't miss this moment. In a few years the ice creams will be replaced by beers.

May: boys will be boys
I love these ordinary moments together where they are just messing around. This was snapped on the balcony of Oma and Opa's new apartment.

June: fun in the sun
It is normally the little man who is shouting to go higher but on this day it was the big lad. A massive achievement as he used to avoid these large swings at all costs. A reminder of how far we've come.

July: Whitby abbey
I adore Whitby and love this shot of the boys, my signature composition.

August: holiday in Turkey.
Another signature composition, snapped naturally on a walk down to the pool. I find it really amazing that in most of these shots their step is identical.

September: look I can read!
One of the proudest moments from this year. The little man sharing his first workbook with his brother. I am so glad that he has found the joy of learning this year.

October: me first!
One of our favourite places in the world the beach at Katwijk. We spend many Sunday mornings walking the dog here.

November: hide and seek
I love the woods in autumn and this was such a special day the mist in the forest was truly beautiful and at one point it was raining leaves.

December: happy days together!
Saturday mornings are regularly spent in Leiden. Such a beautiful city. This is one of my favourite spots. I plan on taking photos regularly here to build up a series of the boys throughout the years.

Thanks for reading and I wish you all a very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful new year!
